Service Agreement for Preferred Edits LLC

This Service Agreement (“Agreement”) outlines the terms and conditions under which Preferred Edits LLC (“Editor,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides editing services to individuals or organizations (“Client,” “you,” or “your”). By using our website and services, you agree to be bound by the terms outlined below.

Scope of Services

Preferred Edits LLC provides academic and professional editing services, including:

  • Proofreading for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and typographical errors.

  • Sentence-level restructuring for clarity and coherence.

  • Structural feedback to enhance readability, organization, and logical flow.

  • Formatting and citation checks based on APA 7th edition guidelines.

  • Identifying areas requiring additional explanation or supporting evidence.

Exclusions from Services

Preferred Edits LLC does not provide:

  • Content writing or ghostwriting services.

  • Plagiarism detection (e.g., Turnitin submissions).

  • AI-generated content verification or detection.

  • Verification of the accuracy or legitimacy of sources in references.

  • Statistical analysis, numerical modifications, or data interpretation.

  • Formatting services beyond APA 7th edition unless agreed upon separately.

Clients are responsible for ensuring that their work meets academic integrity standards and institutional policies.

Academic Integrity

Preferred Edits LLC does not condone, encourage, or participate in plagiarism, academic dishonesty, or unethical writing practices.

Plagiarism is defined as presenting another person’s ideas or words as your own without proper citation. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying from online sources, published materials, or peers.

  • Submitting AI-generated content without proper attribution.

  • Failing to cite paraphrased, quoted, or summarized material.

The Client is solely responsible for ensuring their work adheres to academic integrity policies set by their institution. The Editor does not check for plagiarism and assumes that all submitted work is authentic and properly cited.

Payment & Fees

All payments must be made in full before editing work begins. The total cost of editing services depends on the document length, complexity, and turnaround time.

Payment Terms:

  • Accepted Payment Methods: Payments must be made via secure third-party processors (e.g., PayPal, Stripe, or other designated methods).

  • Non-Refundable Policy: Once editing has commenced, payments are non-refundable. If a cancellation request is made before editing starts, 50% of the fee will be retained for administrative and scheduling costs.

  • Revisions & Additional Fees: If a client requests changes beyond the agreed scope of work, additional fees may apply.

Preferred Edits LLC reserves the right to modify service pricing. However, once a project has been confirmed, the agreed-upon pricing remains binding.

Turnaround Time & Deadlines

The editing timeline begins only after full payment is received and the agreement is confirmed.

  • If payment is received before 12:00 PM EST on a business day, the timeline begins the same day.

  • If payment is received after 12:00 PM EST, on a weekend, or on a federal holiday, the timeline starts on the next business day.

Revisions & Follow-Up:

  • Clients have five (5) calendar days from the date of receiving their edited document to review feedback and request minor clarifications.

  • After the 5-day period, the order is considered closed, and any additional revisions will require a new contract and additional fees.

Preferred Edits LLC is not responsible for project delays caused by late submissions, missing information, or client inaction.

Final Deliverables

Upon completion, clients will receive:

  • A tracked changes version showing all edits and comments.

  • A clean copy with all edits accepted for easier review.

All files are delivered in Microsoft Word format via email. Clients are responsible for reviewing the document and making final changes before submission to their institution, employer, or publisher.

Discounts & Promotions

Preferred Edits LLC offers the following discount programs:

  • Past Client Discount: Clients who previously contracted editing services for an earlier draft (e.g., dissertation proposal) may receive a discount when purchasing a full edit of their final manuscript.

  • Price Match Policy: If the Client provides a competing quote from another editor, Preferred Edits LLC will match or beat the offer by 5%, provided the competing service is of comparable quality and scope. If a price match is not possible, rush editing will be provided at no additional charge.

Terms & Conditions for Discounts:

  • Discounts must be confirmed before payment is made.

  • Price match requests must include an official estimate or invoice from the competitor.

  • Discounts apply only to full manuscript edits and cannot be combined with other promotions.

Preferred Edits LLC reserves the right to modify or discontinue discounts and promotions at any time.

Client Responsibilities

By using our services, the Client agrees to:

  • Provide a complete and accurate Microsoft Word document for editing.

  • Ensure proper citation and academic integrity.

  • Review all edits, comments, and suggestions within the designated 5-day review window.

  • Acknowledge that Preferred Edits LLC does not guarantee that institutions, journals, or advisors will accept the edited document without further revisions.

Preferred Edits LLC is not responsible for academic penalties, rejections, or revisions required by the Client’s institution, employer, or publisher.

Confidentiality & Data Security

Preferred Edits LLC values client confidentiality and ensures that all submitted documents remain private.

  • We do not share, distribute, or disclose client documents to third parties.

  • Edited documents are stored securely and deleted within 30 days of project completion unless a client requests an extension.

  • Payment processing is handled through secure third-party platforms; we do not store financial data.

Consultations

Clients may schedule virtual consultations for guidance related to editing or revisions.

  • The consultation fee is $35 per 30-minute session (prepaid).

  • Clients must verify their time zone before scheduling; Preferred Edits LLC operates on Eastern Standard Time (EST).

  • Missed appointments are not refundable unless rescheduled 24 hours in advance.

Dispute Resolution & Governing Law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States.

  • Any disputes must first be resolved through mediation before arbitration.

  • If mediation fails, binding arbitration in Florida will be the final resolution.

  • Preferred Edits LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages related to service use.

Termination of Agreement

Either party may terminate this Agreement with 24 hours’ notice.

  • If the Client cancels after work has started, 50% of the fee will be retained.

  • If Preferred Edits LLC cancels the contract, the full amount will be refunded.

  • If payment is not received within 24 hours of invoicing, and no notice of delay is provided, the contract may be automatically terminated.

Modification of Terms

Preferred Edits LLC reserves the right to update this Service Agreement at any time. The latest version will always be available on our website. Clients are responsible for reviewing the Agreement before initiating services.
